Rangers vs Motherwell - Match Preview

Rangers are set to host seventh place Motherwell at home in the penultimate SWPL1 match of the season. With two games to go, they currently sit five points from Glasgow City and two points from Celtic - who occupy the second spot in the Champions League.

After their defeat to the rival side last week, they bounced back with a 4-0 win over Forfar Farmington. Daina Bourma, Sam Kerr, Chantelle Swaby and Lizzie Arnot all got on the scoresheet in what was a testing night in Eastern Scotland.

Motherwell have strengthened throughout the season and become a team that can’t be written off. Most recently, they held fourth place Spartans to a 2-0 lead at home but didn’t manage to see out the win. The experience and determination of the Edinburgh outfit clawed back a 3-2 result against the ‘Well. Despite losing, they were the dominant side for the majority of the game against a side who’ve come close to beating Rangers.

Lizzie Arnot still remains the top scorer of both Rangers and the SWPL with 16 goals so far. Fellow team-mate Kirsty Howat is in second place of the podium with eleven goals - even with her torn ACL injury that she sustained against Celtic in April.

Motherwell’s Kaela McDonald-Nguah, Kodie Hay and Claire Adams all pose a threat that the Gers should be wary of. Against Glasgow City, they put two past the reigning champions and caused an unsettling of the usually comfortable side.

Unfortunately the match won’t be available to watch live on television but live match updates and post-match analysis will be found at @TIIWomen on the usual platform.
