It was title-dream heartbreak for Rangers as Princilla Chinchilla put two past Jenna Fife to take the three points back to Broadwood. From the off, City put the pressure on Rangers and denied them the chance to play their style of football. One or two chances came, but they were never converted - a game of opposites compared to the 5-0 victory back in December.

Just 90 seconds in, Costa Rican international, Chinchilla made it 1-0 and grabbed her side an early lead. A ball in from Hayley Lauder found Chinchilla in the box, and with her second attempt, it was in the net.

Both teams found it difficult to settle into a steady tempo - passes were scrappy and rushed. Rangers tried to get forward but the high line from the visitors often cancelled out the efforts.

Target-woman Arnot managed to latch onto a ball in from Hay just 25 minutes in, but it was a great close-range save from Lee Alexander. It was undoubtedly the best chance that came in a Rangers shirt.

At the other end of the park, Chinchilla got her second of the day and doubled City’s lead in the Glasgow Darby. Fife done well to get a hand to it, but it bounces into the net despite the hand. With half an hour gone, Glasgow were in full control.

The second half was a goal-less one. Rangers got two corners to utilise on, but nothing came from them.

Hay managed to hit the woodwork from a cross in and nobody in blue could follow it up.

As expected, the away side kept the ball and wasted any time they could to ensure their win. A lot of urgency came from Rangers in the last ten, but City’s blocking of the counter was too strong.

City now sit top of the league, with Rangers now in third. Celtic grabbed second place with their win today, and one point separates them and the Gers. There’s plenty of work to do if we want to contend for Champions League football. But we’re Rangers Football Club, and we don’t give up that easy.
