Rangers Women forward Lizzie Arnot has scooped the SPFL1's December player of the month after a phenomenal four goals in two games.

The Scottish international, who joined the Blue Belles from Manchester United in July, has been a key figure for Rangers, scoring seven goals already this term to help Malky Thomson's side to the top of the league.

As part of an impressive December, Rangers dismantling of reigning champions Glasgow City sent a warning throughout the league, but Arnot is making sure the team's feet stay on the ground.

"For us, it was always our aim to be competing at the top and to get a victory like that (beating Glasgow City 5-0) was special for us.

"But we know it's only the halfway point. We just want to kick on from here."

With Forfar and Hearts springing shock results recently, the 24-year-old knows Rangers

"I think this year the league is more competitive. We've now played everyone and there haven't been any easy games - every team has presented their own challenge."

Arnot was full of praise for "quality" new signings Rachel McLauchlan, Sam Kerr and Kirsty Howat in her morning press-conference, commenting: "They've really helped. They've really settled it quickly.

"Obviously it helps they've been playing with each other for a few seasons and played alongside us in the team already. A lot of us know them as people, so in terms of gelling - it hasn't taken long at all."

However, Rangers will have to wait to see if they can strengthen their lead at the top of the SPFL1 with all games currently suspended due to the national lockdown - but Arnot is remaining positive.

"We're really not sure, to be honest (when games can return). It's just taking each day at a time. Things are forever changing and we're trying to stay positive where we can."
