Rangers winger Brogan Hay beat Lauren Perry, Ode Fulutudilu and Becky Gailbraith to pick up the SWPL Player of the Month for April. Last week she joined Chelsea Cornet and Megan Bell in signing new contracts for the club, securing their services until June 2022.

Since the restart Hay has been a stand-out for the light blues - best known for her rapid runs down the right-hand side and gliding past the defenders with ease. Like a Ranger, she was humble in accepting the award and couldn’t credit those around her enough.

“I absolutely love playing football here - the facilities we have and the staff. My teammates, I think I should give them full credit for helping me become the player I’ve worked hard to become lately. Playing alongside some of the best players in the country helps me grow as a person.

“I think it’s great the belief that - not just our stuff - but the club as a whole have in the women’s team. The investments and how much they’re trying to help us grow isn’t going to help just me, but it’ll help youth players in the academy who aspire to be in the first team. It’s a dream that now looks achievable.”

Against Hearts on Wednesday, Brogan helped her side go 2-0 up with an assist for Lizzie Arnot, with the side going on to win 4-0.

One thing that stands out with the 22-year-old is the confidence in which she plays with, and it shows in her stats and figures. She produced two goals and three assists for Malky Thomson’s side in the month of April. For a player that was once a ‘finishing’ player, as Malky likes to say, it’s a remarkable achievement to have embedded herself as a name who’s now first on the team sheet.
