Forfar Farmington vs Rangers - Match Preview

A third Old Firm defeat in a row has left Rangers with it all to do, as they approach the final three games of the season with odds of Champions League qualification now stacked against them. However, if Gers feel like they have problems, then Forfar Farmington must feel snowed under. Scottish FA mix-ups, injuries and players suddenly leaving means they are down to the bare bones. For Malky Thomson's Rangers, the task is simple, take maximum points 'til season end and hope those above slip up along the way.

Rangers

As attested to above, Gers have left themselves with an almighty task to finish into the top two and bring Champions League football to the Women's team for the first time ever. Rangers will be massive favourites again, having already smashed an astonishing 14 goals in their last two games against them. With direct competition Celtic facing a tough task away at Hibernian, only a win will do for Rangers as they look to pip an unlikely European spot.

Forfar Farmington

One point from the last eight games has left Forfar fighting for their lives at the bottom of the league after previously looking safe in mid-table. Manager Kevin McGreskin has had a host of issues to deal with, each one seemingly affecting his side's performance on the pitch. Star striker London Pollard left for Celtic last month and the club has only scored one goal since her departure.

Rangers team news

Kirsten Reilly returned to the side in the weekend defeat to Celtic and came through the game without any problems, so should be available to start. Carly Girasoli will be knocked on the door of a recall after she was surprisingly dropped to the bench for the Old Firm defeat on Sunday. Brogan Hay faces a race to be fit too, after being forced off in Sunday's game, with no update on the extend of the injury at the time of speaking. Demi Vance, Kirsty Howat and Megan Bell are all long term absentees.

Ones to watch

Rangers:

Sam Kerr - The midfielder has been Rangers stand out player over the past five weeks, consistently churning out positive performances. Kerr will be important is Gers bounce back this Wednesday.

Lizzie Arnot - The tricky winger is still the SWPL's top scorer and is often the club most dangerous in front of goal. With the loss of Kirsty Howat being more present by the week, Arnot will need to continue her impressive season if Rangers are to stand any chance of a positive end to the campaign.

Forfar Farmington:

Donna Patterson - The former Scotland youth international has been a chink of light in a difficult season for Forfar, with her flurry of goals earlier in the season looking more and more vital as the weeks go on.

Lauren Perry - While Forfar's goal conceded statistics may look worryingly large, it can not be attributed to their goalkeeper. Perry, who also scored a stunning last-minute free-kick earlier in the season, is one of the best goalkeepers in the league and, despite losing 11-0, made numerous fine saves in her side defeat at the Rangers Training Centre last month.
