My first memory of football was; as a 9 year old in 1977; was hearing that Rangers had signed Davie Cooper. Everything Rangers did from then until he left in 1989 revolved around Coop and his magical left peg. Without question the single most naturally talented footballer ever to wear the famous Royal Blue; Davie Cooper has the lot. Assists weren’t a stat back then but Coop’s numbers would have been off the charts if they had been. The day he sadly collapsed and died is as vivid a memory as the day he signed.
